Course Overview
C is close to the hardware, which makes it an excellent language for understanding how memory, data and programs really work. It remains part of most engineering and computer science syllabi and is still used in operating systems, embedded systems and performance critical software.
This course moves from syntax and control structures to arrays, strings, pointers, dynamic memory, structures and files. Every topic is practised with exercises that mirror university lab work and technical interview questions.
Learning Objectives
By the end of C Programming, learners should be able to:
- Write, compile and debug C programs from the command line or an IDE
- Use arrays, strings and functions to structure larger programs
- Explain and use pointers, pointer arithmetic and dynamic memory allocation
- Model real data with structures and unions
- Read and write files and handle errors
Topics Covered
01Getting started with C
- Compilation process
- Data types, variables and constants
- printf and scanf
02Operators and control flow
- Arithmetic, relational and logical operators
- if, switch and loops
- Pattern programs
03Functions and recursion
- Declaring and defining functions
- Call by value
- Recursion with factorial, Fibonacci and more
04Arrays and strings
- One and two dimensional arrays
- String functions
- Searching and sorting algorithms
05Pointers and memory
- Pointer basics and arithmetic
- Pointers with arrays and functions
- malloc, calloc, realloc and free
06Structures, files and preprocessor
- struct, union and enum
- File input and output
- Macros, header files and multi file programs
Topic order and depth may be adjusted for the batch, format and learner level.
Practical Learning
Every module pairs explanation with hands-on work. Typical practical activities in this course:
Memory diagrams drawn for every pointer exercise
University style lab programs with viva questions
Debugging sessions using compiler warnings and a debugger
Interview question practice on arrays, strings and pointers
Representative Projects
Projects are chosen with mentors based on your level and interests. Examples include:

FAQs
Is C still worth learning?
Yes. C teaches how memory and program execution work, which makes other languages easier. It is also widely used in embedded systems, operating systems and device firmware, and it appears in many university exams and technical interviews.
Will this course help with my university C lab?
The course covers the topics usually found in first year C programming syllabi and includes lab style programs, so it supports your academic work as well as practical skill.
What comes after C Programming?
Common next steps are C++ Training for object oriented programming, data structures practice, or Internet of Things training if you are interested in hardware.
What is the duration and schedule of this course?
Duration, batch timings and format are shared when you enquire, because they depend on whether you choose a short-term, long-term, weekend or training format. Contact the team by phone, WhatsApp or email for current batches.
Is placement assistance available?
Learners can use AIIT Roorkee's placement assistance, which includes career counselling, CV preparation, LinkedIn development, interview preparation and mock interviews. Placement assistance is career preparation support and does not constitute a guarantee of employment or placement.
