Understanding Generative AI
How models that write, draw and code actually work, where they help, where they fail and what to learn first.
Cybersecurity
The core ideas behind protecting systems and data, the threats that matter most and how people build security careers.
Every online account, payment, medical record and business system depends on security. Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting systems, networks and data from unauthorised access, damage and disruption.
Security professionals often describe their goals with three principles:
Good security uses layers, so a single failure does not expose everything. This approach is called defence in depth and includes:
Ethical hackers and penetration testers look for weaknesses so they can be fixed. The key word is authorised. Testing systems without explicit permission is illegal. Learners practise in isolated labs and capture the flag environments built for training, and professionals work under written agreements that define scope.
Security is a habit, not a product. The best tools still depend on people making careful choices.
Common entry directions include SOC analyst, security analyst, vulnerability assessment analyst and IT roles with security responsibilities. Specialisations grow into penetration testing, cloud security, application security, digital forensics and governance.
A strong foundation includes Networking and Linux Administration, followed by Cybersecurity training with practical labs. Scripting in Python becomes more useful as you progress.
Coding is helpful but not required to begin. Networking, Linux and security fundamentals come first, and scripting skills can be added over time.
Learning is legal when practice happens in labs and environments designed for training. Testing real systems requires explicit written permission from the owner.

Learn it properly
Learn to protect systems and data: security fundamentals, networks, web application security, ethical hacking labs, SOC monitoring and incident response.
Learn how networks work: OSI and TCP/IP models, IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, wireless, troubleshooting and network security basics.
Administer Linux servers with confidence: command line, users, permissions, processes, packages, services, networking, shell scripting and hardening.
