Course Overview
The Internet of Things connects physical devices to the internet so they can sense, report and act. IoT is used in smart homes, agriculture, healthcare monitoring, manufacturing and energy management.
The course combines electronics basics, microcontroller programming with Arduino and ESP32, sensors and actuators, communication protocols such as MQTT, cloud dashboards, data logging, an introduction to edge AI and the security practices connected devices need.
Learning Objectives
By the end of Internet of Things (IoT), learners should be able to:
- Program microcontrollers to read sensors and control actuators
- Connect devices to Wi-Fi and send data with MQTT and HTTP
- Visualise device data on cloud dashboards
- Design a complete IoT system from device to dashboard
- Apply basic IoT security and power considerations

FAQs
Do I need to buy a hardware kit?
Hardware requirements depend on the batch and lab setup. Ask the team which components are provided and which you may want for home practice.
Is IoT suitable for mechanical or civil students?
Yes. IoT is widely applied in those fields for monitoring and automation, and the course teaches the electronics basics needed.
Can IoT be combined with AI?
Yes. The course introduces edge AI, where small machine learning models run on devices. Learners can combine IoT with Machine Learning for advanced projects.
What is the duration and schedule of this course?
Duration, batch timings and format are shared when you enquire, because they depend on whether you choose a short-term, long-term, weekend or training format. Contact the team by phone, WhatsApp or email for current batches.
Is placement assistance available?
Learners can use AIIT Roorkee's placement assistance, which includes career counselling, CV preparation, LinkedIn development, interview preparation and mock interviews. Placement assistance is career preparation support and does not constitute a guarantee of employment or placement.
