Course Overview

About this course

Containers package an application with everything it needs to run, so it behaves the same on a laptop, a test server and in production. Docker is the most widely used tool for building and running containers.

This course covers container concepts, working with images and containers, writing efficient Dockerfiles, volumes and data, networking, multi container applications with Docker Compose, registries and container security practices.

Learning Objectives

By the end of Docker Training, learners should be able to:

  • Explain containers and how they differ from virtual machines
  • Build efficient images with Dockerfiles
  • Persist data with volumes and connect containers with networks
  • Run multi service applications with Docker Compose
  • Apply image security and size best practices

Topics Covered

01Container concepts

FAQs

Do I need Linux for Docker?

Docker runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, but containers are usually Linux based, so Linux command line basics make learning much easier.

What comes after Docker?

Kubernetes is the usual next step for running containers at scale, followed by DevOps pipelines.

Can Docker be used for AI projects?

Yes. Docker is commonly used to package machine learning models and LLM applications so they run consistently when deployed.

What is the duration and schedule of this course?

Duration, batch timings and format are shared when you enquire, because they depend on whether you choose a short-term, long-term, weekend or training format. Contact the team by phone, WhatsApp or email for current batches.

Is placement assistance available?

Learners can use AIIT Roorkee's placement assistance, which includes career counselling, CV preparation, LinkedIn development, interview preparation and mock interviews. Placement assistance is career preparation support and does not constitute a guarantee of employment or placement.
